DECEMBER NEWSLETTER

Dear Parents and Students,
The cold and flu season will be hitting the area soon. We realize that students will be taking
prescription and over the counter (OTC) medication. It is important that Board Policy be
followed. A Parent Authorization and Release Form must be completed prior to your son or
daughter receiving medication from our school office staff. A form must be on file for OTC
medication as well. Students are NOT to have any medication, including OTC medication (i.e.
Tylenol, Advil, Motrin), on their person or in their locker at any time. Medication must be turned
in to the office when they arrive at school. Again, a release form must be completed. Forms
are available in the office and on our school website under Health Services. Please refer to the
CHS Student Handbook, also online, for a complete review of the policy on medication. The
last thing we want is to discipline a student for having Tylenol in his pocket or her purse.
However, we cannot legally have students possess medication while at school. We appreciate
your cooperation with this matter. We will make announcements to students frequently during
the winter season, reminding them of the procedures that must be followed for taking
medication.

Sincerely,
Matt Bishop, Principal
ARE YOU CHECKING GRADES ONLINE?
You have the capability to view your child’s grades, attendance, and academic progress using
Progress Book—a new electronic grade book system. Each parent was provided with a
username and password to access their child’s academic performance in class. This username
and password does not change from year to year. Progress Book also contains an e-mail link to
your child’s teacher should you have questions or concerns about your child’s performance in
class. However, we would kindly ask that before you e-mail a teacher concerning an assignment
that has not yet been posted by that teacher that you allow the teacher ample time to grade,
record, and post scores to the Web. As a general rule, teachers will try to update all grade
books on a weekly basis. Need help or lost your information?
Call 937-746-4481 ext. 407 or send email to ca_schuh@swoca.net

STUDENT FEES
Do not forget to pay your child’s student fees. For middle and high school students, the student
fees are $55. This covers workbooks, consumable materials, copy paper, etc. If you need
assistance with school fees, please contact the school office at 937-746-4481. Report Cards will
be held at the end of the 2nd quarter if student fees are not paid.

OHIO GRADUATION TEST COMING IN MARCH
Our sophomores will be taking the Ohio Graduation Test in March. We are planning on
providing breakfast for those students as well. If you are interested in helping out, please call
the school at 746-4481.
