Notice Application for a 95-MW power plant in the Harmattan area Grande Prairie Generation, Inc. (GPG) has filed a facility application to construct and operate a 95-megwatt (MW) natural gas-fired power plant in the Harmattan area. Anyone who wishes to express their objections to, concerns about, or support of the application, must make a written submission to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC or the Commission) on or before September 14, 2012, clearly identifying Proceeding ID No. 1918 on the submission. GPG Facility Application No. 1608498 In accordance with Section 11 of the Hydro and Electric Energy Act, GPG filed an application with the AUC on May 30, 2012, requesting approval to construct and operate a 95-MW natural gas-fired power plant, the Harmattan Energy Centre. The power plant would consist of two simple cycle gas turbine generators and is designed to operate as a peaking unit and be able to supplement the peak period electricity demand in Alberta. The power plant would be located in LSD 5 of Section 26, Township 31, Range 4, west of the Fifth Meridian, approximately 17 kilometres southeast of the town of Sundre.
